Probabilistic output

The service can produce false positives, false negatives, and uncertain results. Performance varies by generator, image type, editing, resizing, compression, screenshots, and changes to detection or generation models.

No accuracy percentage, processing time, model coverage, reliability level, or outcome is guaranteed. Public performance claims require benchmark evidence and approved wording before they are added to the service.

Appropriate use

Treat results as one signal in a broader verification process. Review provenance, metadata, source credibility, context, and other forensic evidence where appropriate.

Do not rely on detector.guru as the sole basis for legal, employment, academic, financial, safety-critical, or other high-impact decisions, and do not present a score as conclusive proof.

Model and service changes

The current production analysis flow may use Sightengine or another provider. Detection providers, thresholds, and model behavior may change over time; do not assume a result covers every generator, edited image, or future model.
